With reference to telegram No. 424 to Foreign Office from
His Mejesty's Ambassador in China. Enquiry has been made by
Foreign Office whether there is any objection to Consul General
at Canton entering into discussions with local Chinese
authorities with a view to arrangements being made in case of
emergency for storing rolling stock and other moveable property
of the Kowloon-Cunton Railway at Kowloon for safety. I have
replied that I have no objection subject to any local considera-
tions on which you may wish to offer observations. I have asked
that in formulating any detailed proposals Consul General may
be instructed to keep in close consultation with you.
